Who’s Who in US smartphone market?
Apple’s iPhone distribution of more than a million items in three uninterrupted quarters enable them to smash records. And even when the 2nd-quarter deliveries slumped down (probably because of the new 3G iPhone), Apple has remained to be the 2nd placer for the 1st half of 2008, with Motorola on the 3rd place.
Meanwhile, Motorola topped the US Mobile Handset vendor with 25% share. However, the 1st placer struggles in the productive and quick-rising Smartphone industry. In fact, Motorola was the single dealer with 2-digits drop for both quarterly and annual growth in the second quarter of 2008.
Below are the figures from Synergy Research Group containing the US Smartphone Vendor Shipment Growth [Q-Q/Y-Y] for the 2nd Quarter of 2008.
Apple -64.2% /125.6%
RIM 8.1% /92.1%
Sony Ericsson 9.4% /32.9%
Samsung -1.1% /31.3%
LG 10.5% /29.4%
Motorola -28.6% /-18.2%
Nokia 43.6% /-24.5%
